Photography in an Ancient Woodland - Woodland Photography Tips and Ideas

I’m just back from a trip to an ancient woodland where I enjoyed some fulfilling photography but faced challenges in terms of the woodland itself and the weather. I created a video showing my experience and I give some tips and ideas to hopefully help you in your own woodland photography. You can watch the video on my YouTube channel here.

Recent Landscape Photography Trips

I've been on a few trips recently in various places across Scotland and I have vlogs from some of these on my YouTube channel. I always enjoy looking for unique images and I talk about that in one of my videos, I also have a couple of woodland photography videos posted. I really enjoy woodland photography and the search for interesting compositions. You can watch my latest video here and I've included a couple of images from recent videos below.

The Canon Nifty Fifty - Why It’s Great for Woodland Photography (Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM Lens)

In this weeks vlog I discuss the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM lens (affiliate link to the product on Amazon - https://amzn.to/2Wy0FdB). I think this is an excellent lens and offers fantastic value for money, I also find that it works really well for woodland photography. To hear my thoughts on this and see the images I capture with this lens on a recent woodland trip, click here.

Taking Good Images in Dull Weather

It is still possible to take really nice images on a dull day. In overcast conditions I head to the woods and search for compositions which appeal to my eye. The sun appears once and only very briefly but I leave with some nice images which I am happy with. We can’t always be out at sunrise and sunset but you can still capture great images at other times of the day and in less than ideal weather conditions. Watch my journey here.
